Katie's Alligator Goes to Daycare
Ann Decter is author of the novels Paper, Scissors, Rock and Honour both published by Vancouver's legendary feminist publisher, Press Gang, in the 1990s. She spent fifteen years in feminist publishing - including five years as co-managing editor at Women's Press - and traveled internationally promoting Canadian women's writing. Ann's writing has been published in numerous anthologies and periodicals including Plural Desires, Prairie Fire and Fireweed's Jewish Women's Issue.
A co-editor of two anti-homophobia anthologies and She's Gonna Be, an anthology of new women's writing, Ann has edited many books that have won or been nominated for awards ranging from the VanCity Book Award to the Governor-General's Award. She taught creative writing at George Brown College through the 1990s. Her early publications include the prose poetry volume Insister and a children's book, Katie's Alligator Goes to Daycare.
In 1994, Ann co-founded McGilligan Books, where she is the publisher. She is currently at work on a novel called Angles of the Sun.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, she has lived in Toronto since 1983.
