Frances Beaulieu

Métis, born in the Dene Nation – Denendeh – as an infant, Frances Beaulieu was adopted by a woman from the Denesóliné (Chipewayan) family. She grew up in Sòmbakè -Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – where she lived until she was sixteen. A graduate of the Ontario College of Art and Design (OCAD) Frances Beaulieu is a writer and family historian who, for many years, wrote and illustrated the Recipix feature published in the food section of the Toronto Star. The stories in Little Buffalo River, her first book, were developed over eighteen-year period following her graduation from OCAD.

Frances is currently researching aboriginal history in Alberta and Toronto for a new book project. She lives in Toronto and currently works as a security guard at the Royal Ontario Museum.
