Kim Trusty was winner of Fireweed's First Annual Poetry Contest in 2001 and served on the editorial collective for Fireweed's generation-defining issue, "Revolution Girl Style." Her poetry has appeared in Fireweed and in the anthology Bent (Women's Press). Frequently seen on Toronto stages through the late 1990s, Kim has performed at many Toronto events including Mayworks, Live Action Ladies Cabaret Strange Sisters and Visionary Voices. A seasoned performer, Kim has been a featured reader at the infamous Toronto reading series "Bite" at the El Mocambo, as well as at the well-received "Poetica" at Rancho Relaxo and appeared on CIUT-FM and CKLN-FM.
A bi-racial Canadian and Jamaican poet, Kim Trusty has lived in both Canada and Jamaica, and currently resides in England. She attends the University of Warwick in Coventry studying Colonial and Post-Colonial Literature.
