"Sandra Alland's writing is intelligent and multi-faceted, touching on many sensitive realities with a playful charm dispersed between its edges…She's some kind of cool."
Alexandra Leggat, www.13thtigerpress.com
"Sandra Alland gives a stunning performance with her piece, 'Knife and Suitcase in Hand'. Her reading voice is powerful and the sound piece she presents is intricate and captivating."
Rob Thomas, The Varsity
"Broken Telephone/teléfono descompuesto/au téléphone [is] a chapbook assembled by Sandra Alland out of a translation experiment carried out by herself and 19 other writers and photographers… Some fascinating food for thought about how we approach language and meaning."
Maggie Helwig, word
"Sandra's performances are visceral and evocative, where sound entwines with movement entwines with meaning, and her entire body becomes the poem. She moves from sensual to menacing in a matter of syllables and seconds, transcribing and re-evaluating human experience into a form of her own. She'll show you a thing or two about love, loss and lyric, then leave you with goosebumps and a smile."
Jennifer LoveGrove, www.13thtigerpress.com
"Sandra Alland always brings an intelligent, refined performance to the stage."
Ryan Ayukawa, Poetic Licence
"Sandra Alland's poetry defies literary interpretation. It is at once accessible and deliberately concrete, indeed, mathematical…When Alland puts out an entire book of her work, I'll be the first person in line at the cash register."
Emily Pohl-Weary, Broken Pencil
