Submission Guidelines

Query Letter

Your query should state the genre of your manuscript and describe clearly and concisely what the book is about. If it's a novel, memoir, or other non-fiction manuscript give us a synopsis and a list of chapters. For a short story or poetry collection, include a list of the stories or poems and any publications credits. Let us know how many pages the manuscript is - for prose, the pages you're counting should be double-spaced and 8 1/2 x 11 pages, for poetry, single-spaced.

Please include a short bio and publishing history. If there's a particular reason you are interested in publishing with McGilligan Books, please let us know what it is.

Manuscript

Only submit a manuscript, or portion of one, when the editors have asked to see it. We'll read the manuscripts we've asked for, not others.

All prose manuscripts should be double-spaced on 8 1/2 x 11 pages. Poetry can be single-spaced. If you'd like the manuscript returned please include a self-addressed stamped envelope. Our assessment process can be lengthy, please be prepared for as much as a 6-month wait for an answer.
